Working with Gordon Audio Visual is an absolute pleasure. From inception through to completion on multiple projects the team have demonstrated that they are a resource that delivers when the pressure is on and it comes to showtime. With a superb eye for detail and a professional outlook, I would highly recommend GAV to any organisation who are looking to run a large scale event.

Torpedo Factory Events Services were briefed by the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce to plan the live Awards event for the Slough Chamber of Commerce in March 2011.

The client brief involved designing a stage set, incorporating a printed backdrop of the awards logo in the centre, with two rear projection screens either side to show the award categories and sponsors' logos. We were also required to provide a live camera feed of the award presentations for use by the client, which was streamed on their website.

The Events team designed a carpeted stage complete with LED pixeline uplights, and two Mac moving lights programmed to change colour and with various built-in effects, to create a real impression when the winners were announced.

  • Two Sanyo 6500 lumen projectors were used for the visuals with two 50” repeater plasma screens placed
  • further back in the room, giving the audience chance to see the whole event.
  • A high quality D&B sound system was provided with hand held radio microphones and two AKG 747 lectern microphones.
  • The Events team had on hand three technicians, for sound, lighting, and IT/video, as well as a camera/cameraman and experienced project/show manager.
  • Walk-up sting music was provided by the client for each award category winner, and the compere for the evening was a Ricky Gervais/David Brent lookalike, fitting the location of the Awards in Slough!
  • Pre-production involved compiling a PowerPoint presentation of the event sponsor, nomination logos and results, all sent by the client and then used through the event.  The Events team also produced a sponsor logo montage for the plasma screens in the hotel reception area.
  • To complete the set dressing, In the entrance to the bar area outside the room a red carpet was laid, and two full-size ‘Oscars’ with a star cloth tunnel were mounted either side.  Finally, a backdrop of the sponsors' logos for the winners' photographs was hung in the bar area.
